Manages Project Maintenance Personel
Reports to Equipment Manager
Safety Leadership
• Invest in site maintenance personnel to foster "An Eye For Safety.”
• Mitigate onsite safety risks
• Ensure all MSHA regulations are followed and maintain site safety conditions
• Conduct monthly site safety meetings to discuss incidents, safety trends, behavior goals, etc
• Ensure all workplace exams are complete and accurate
• Task training is completed correctly and stored
• Pre-op issues are corrected, and forms are filed according to the TMG process
• All safety documents are filed and stored on-site
• Follow the TMG process for incident response
• Complete incident report in HCSS Safety
- Provide employees with a safe and healthy work environment by providing safe systems of work, safe work procedures, adequate training and instruction, and competent supervision.
- Review hazard identification, near miss, and incident reports and provide follow-up as appropriate
- Ensure maintenance employees and contractors working within the Group are prequalified and have the necessary commencement paperwork, competencies, and qualifications to work safely and deliver quality maintenance services (has the authority to prohibit any work from being undertaken unless all requirements are met).
Major Responsibilities:
- Spend significant time in the field – “visible felt leadership” – interacting with the workforce, ~40 - 60% of working time.
- Develop systems and foster the required collaboration to ensure the department meets monthly targets.
- Review competencies, Scopes of Work, and Schedules of Rates for all Contractors, ensuring costs are managed and controlled while complying with Contractor Controls Policies and Procedures.
- Help develop maintenance strategy objectives and ensure they are met.
- Improve Equipment/Operations Performance Optimize Equipment & Fleet Assets
- Ensure the effective and efficient application of maintenance resources, as measured by schedule compliance, PM compliance, the level of planned vs. unplanned work, and the ongoing management of backlog.
- Participate in incident investigations (injury, high-potential, and equipment damage) to ensure that corrective actions are effectively implemented and tracked.
- Support the development and ongoing optimization of maintenance strategies for critical assets.
- Complete performance evaluation reviews for direct reports and manage their career development.
- Recruit for Maintenance positions. Ensure that succession planning for critical roles is in place.
- Ensure training is provided as required.
- Communicate daily needs with operations
- Manage equipment costs, repairs, rebuilds, warrantee items, and equipment replacements
- Manage field services for operations: service and mechanics trucks, tools, etc.
Develop an equipment coordinator
Requirements:
Essential
- Minimum 3-5 years Maintenance General Foreman level or higher experience in heavy industry
- Minimum of 2+ years management of the maintenance scheduling and workflow function.
Personnel Management
• Submit hiring requests/ termination requestions to HR following the TMG process
• Conduct interviews for maintenance employees.
• Complete employee reviews using the TMG form and submit them for approval.
• Evaluate maintenance personnel performance
• Document employee issues/ disciplinary action, send to Equipment Manager and HR
• Maintain complete knowledge of the employee handbook
Desirable
- Experience managing or supervising an equipment department
- Five years experience managing maintenance.
- Exposure to Project Management tools and techniques.
